Caring for Your Artwork: Tips to Keep Your Paintings Looking Their Best

Proper maintenance of your artwork ensures its longevity and preserves its beauty. Here are some guidelines that I always share with my collectors:

  1. Display Considerations

    • Avoid hanging paintings in direct sunlight to prevent fading. Use UV-protective glass or acrylic when framing to shield from harmful rays.

  2. Environmental Factors

    • Maintain stable temperature and humidity levels. Extreme fluctuations can cause materials to expand or contract, leading to damage.

  3. Cleaning Practices

    • Dust artworks regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using water or cleaning agents, as they can harm the paint surface.

  4. Handling Procedures

    • Always handle artworks with clean hands or gloves. Support the piece from underneath to prevent stress on the frame or canvas.

  5. Professional Maintenance

    • For significant cleaning or repairs, consult a professional conservator. Attempting fixes yourself can inadvertently cause more harm.

By following these care tips, your paintings can remain vibrant and intact for generations to come.
